November-December

  • Happy November! I’m pleased to welcome those of you who have returned to southwest Florida. As you will see below, there’s a lot going on in the next few weeks more details follow in the newsletter. Here are the highlights. Join us for Transformational Breath an experience that has been described as profound, meaningful, and healing. The first session is November 19. Have you ever said to yourself – “My life would be great if only I did not have to deal with so-and-so.”? If this sounds familiar, you may benefit from our four week Loving Kindness meditation program. This is a unique style of meditation which promises to transform relationships in surprising and unexpected ways. I’m also happy to share that after some prodding by a few friends, I’m starting a monthly cooking program Francesca’s Kitchen. I’ll be sharing my favorite recipies for simple yet delicious meals. As season gets to a full swing we’ll add a few more classes and offer the popular yoga and golf program Free Your Swing! Our 9th Classical Yoga Mind Body Sciences Teacher Training begins in January and we are now accepting applications for southwest Florida’s first and most comprehensive nationally recognized program.

Transformational Breath

  • Thursday November 19, 6-8 pm
  • Cost $27 per person, per session
  • Transformational breath frees stagnant energy in the body and can leave you feeling rejuvenated, renewed, and saying “wow!” Many of us breathe in a way that is shallow which limits the amount of prana or life force. Transformational Breath frees the life force within providing access to energies and insights about your life in a truly meaningful way. The specific breath technique is done lying down for about one hour. One private client said “Transformational breath is an express elevator to the viewing gallery of the mind…truly powerful.” Come breathe with us. No experience needed. Next session Thursday December 23, 6-8 pm

Francesca’s Kitchen

  • Cost $20 + $10 for groceries; minimum
  • I love preparing a feast in my kitchen and I’m happy to share some of my favorite recipies from my family. Starting Thursday November 11th, and once a month, you’ll learn to prepare dishes that will be mostly Mediterranean, vegetarian, and we’ll savor the surprises of nutritious, healthy, fresh, and tasty meals and desserts. We will also venture into other world cuisines. You’ll receive the recipies, and health/nutrition benefits. If we have leftovers you get to take them home!

Francesca’s Kitchen: Thursday November 11, 6-8 pm

  • For our first feast, we celebrate the region of Puglia, Italy (my mother’s birthplace). No dish says Puglia louder than Orecchiette Con Cimi di Rapa (little ear pasta with broccoli rabe). Rabe is a bitter vegetable (a cousin of mustard greens). This healthy peasant dish is easy to make and very yummy. We’ll also make a dessert (surprise!). It will have you making a lot of mmmm sounds. To register, follow this link.

Francesca’s Kitchen: Friday December 17, 6-8 pm

  • Cost $20 + $10 for groceries; minimum 4; maximum 10
  • Bring your own wine & wine glass
  • ‘Tis the season for Baccala in Umido – or sautéed cod. This hearty fish is very popular in southern Italy, and is a Christmas Eve tradition in Italy. Each southern region of Italy has its own twist on the recipe. This one is from the Abruzzi region, on the Adriatic Coast. It’s not Christmas Eve without baccala. We’ll also prepare braised peppers with baccala risotto!

A Happy Heart: Transform Relationships with Loving Kindness (Metta)

  • Four Week Course: Thursday Nov 18, Dec 2, 9, 16, 6:00-8:00
  • Cost $127 – Register here: Register For the Four Week Course
  • Heal and transform your relationships with the ancient practice of Loving Kindness meditation. Through Loving Kindness we befriend ourselves, strengthen good relationships, and transform difficult ones. Loving Kindness orients us towards the articulation of the heart connecting us to a vision of life that is includes rather than excludes. This unique practice develops the mental habit of selfless or altruistic love.
  • BENEFITS: The program opens the door to heal and enhance relationships with self and others. Participants will gain meaningful insight around healing the relationships that matter most in your life.
  • Each week, we will build upon the teachings of the previous week which include: introduction to Loving Kindness. Directing friendship to those parts of ourselves we find disheartening. Learn and reconcile the inner “enemies” (ignorance, greed, hatred, and fear) and beliefs that prevent goodwill towards others. Understand one’s role and participation in difficult relationships; and build a sense of community through Loving Kindness. There will be periods of dialogue, discourse, group work, and meditation practice.
  • We will sit on the floor on back jacks, or on cushions; (chairs also provided or bring your own meditation cushion). Please wear comfortable clothing. Bring water and a yoga mat. Beginners are welcome – no need for prior experience in meditation or Loving-Kindness practice. Sign up early as space is limited. (Does not meet Thanksgiving Day).
