Create a life you love

Create classes you love to teach and students love to take. Create an abundant yoga practice Continue to learn. Get certified to teach what you love.

If you embrace a never-ending curiosity of the ancient mystery and practice of Yoga, if you hunger to understand the true nature of the mind, if you wish to design a yoga career that thrives economically and is grounded on conscious business practices, and if you possess a strong desire for self awareness to design a life worth living, this 250 hour, Yoga Alliance approved program is for you.

The Flowering of the Teacher Within

You are already a teacher.  Expressing the teacher within is like the unfolding of flower, a gradual, natural, nearly invisible process of blossoming.

The Florida Yoga Institute’s Raja Hatha Yoga foundational training is a six month unfolding.  A 250 hour experience, which exceeds Yoga Alliance standards, delivered over six intensive weekends.  The historical and philosophic context of our training is the Tantra Yoga tradition framed within Patanjali's Kriya Yoga which later came to be known as Raja Yoga.  We merge the contemplative influence of Raja Yoga with the context and lineage of Hatha Yoga.

The Raja Hatha training of The Florida Yoga Institute marries Eastern tradition with Western influence and offers a well rounded curriculum that incorporates asana, anatomy & physiology, pranayama, Yoga history and philosophy; meditation; business mastery; and self-wisdom through the personal mastery and communications training.

The learning environment is rigorous, safe, supportive, thorough, joyful and conducive to success. The teaching method is experiential and Socratic – feeding off of the collective intelligence. There are two daily yoga classes, formal and informal training, guest lectures, noteworthy films, extensive practice teaches (some video taped), and great learning that comes from self, peer and faculty observation.

Deepening one’s personal practice is encouraged as it is the source of inspired, creative teaching, and continued learning.

Forty hours of the program are completed through Svadhyaya - the Yoga principle known as self-study. As part of Svadhyaya, students will complete reading and written assignments due on deadline; experience other teaching styles; and listen and review discourses of well-known yoga, meditation, and Buddhist teachers.
